Shena and Tim are from the Washington, D. C. area but decided to have a destination wedding right here in Colorado. Their families live all over the country (although Shena’s is the closest in Nebraska). I had talked a bit with another bride about the same wedding date for her small wedding up in the mountains, but Shena and Tim were so enthusiastic, they booked me right away over the phone. I was so excited because I could tell they were so excited. I finally got to meet them when they came to town a few months later. We met up at Turnhalle at Tivoli at the student union on Metro’s Auraria campus downtown. (** I made the mistake of wearing heels to this meeting and got major blisters because we walked all of the way down to the ceremony site and back.**OUCH!) It was worth it though.
Finally, in June, the big day arrived. I photographed Shena and Tim getting ready at The Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver. They took separate limos up to Red Rocks to get in their first look and have some photos with each other and the family. Because of some traffic, we were a bit late, so we did a few more portraits of the couple later on right after they finished eating their dinner. There was also a huge event going on at the ampitheater that day, so we were really stuck shooting in one spot because of the time / access constraints. I think we made the best of it though.
After that… back down to the ceremony site on campus…I had an assistant throughout the day who also second shot the ceremony with me! Thanks Jonathan!
