It’s Spring in the City! We had a ridiculous amount of fun at Kaitlyn and Jackson’s Country Club Plaza and Nelson-Atkins engagement session. I seriously can’t remember laughing so much during a session.
They met during freshman orientation at Iowa State University. During Greek Rush, she noticed him early on. She kept her eye on him for a while and then one thing led to another. They have been together ever since.
We started out at the Country Club Plaza. The architecture, with its amazing textures and mosaic tiles all around the Plaza offer such a wide array of backdrops and options for us. Heavily influenced by Spanish architecture and European art, the Plaza has a romantic old worldly feel. On the plaza we can quickly go from fun to stylish and couture within a few steps. With the fountains and sculptures and murals, it brings the old and the new together in the heart of Kansas City and does a great job of creating a romantic feel to the photos.
For the second half of their session we headed over to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for a bit more whimsy. The Nelson is another wonderful for an engagement session. The grounds are overflowing with greenery and there are picturesque statues and works of art everywhere. The wide open spaces with art work mixed in provides a perfect backdrop for a couple to be one with the art.
Both the Country Club Plaza and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art are amazing backdrops for wonderfully awesome engagement photos that show off the heart of Kansas City without the (sometimes overdone) classic skyline.
I am so grateful I met these two at the KC Weddings Bridal Show. I cannot wait for their wedding in Des Moines next May!
