gorgeous floral, vintage james p davis hall wedding - wyandotte county lake park - kansas city

When we first met, Katie told me she was a florist and I instantly knew there would be amazing details and flowers everywhere. James P. Davis Hall at Wyandotte Coutny Lake Park may have never looked so good as it did the night Katie and Marshall were married.

Mercifully, it rained the morning of the wedding, cooling down the air from the 100 degree temperatures we had been experiencing around the beginning of September. I joined the girls getting ready at the amazing Raphael Hotel just off of the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. I headed up to see the girls after checking over the property and found them all lounging in their robes chatting.

Katie’s bouquet was amazing with roses, peonies, dahlias, succulents and so much more! She just couldn’t stop staring at it, because it was so amazing. Her fellow florists at the shop incorporated tons of her grandmother’s heirloom brooches into the bouquet to push it right over the top and into breathtaking. Katie was stunning from her lace dress to her beautifully done hair and the amazing bouquet to top it off. After her sister helped her dress Katie stopped in front of the mirror on her way out, turning to one side and then the other she slowly smiled and then stated, “I look fabulous!” and then giggled. She was right.

Her beautiful bridesmaids wore matching sundresses in shades of pink and peach, each with their own unique, amazing bouquet complete with more of Katie’s grandmother’s brooches.

Once Katie was dressed and ready, we headed back downstairs so she could meet her groom for their first look. With so many guests coming to wish them well they wanted to see one another beforehand so they could relax and enjoy visiting after the ceremony. Marshall was so overcome by his fabulous looking Katie a tear or two may have slipped out. He couldn’t really say much, he just took her hand, leaned back and gave her a twirl so he could get the full effect. Surely, he couldn’t have had such an amazing reaction or such a sweet moment if they had just seen each other from opposite ends of the aisle.

After a couple of bridal party photos in front of the Raphael, they all piled into the limo and we headed out to Wyandotte County Lake Park and grabbed some amazing photos around the park before heading over to James P Davis Hall to get ready for the ceremony. After the ceremony guests lounged on the patio and in the hall, snacking on homemade cookies, cupcakes and awesome Kansas City bbq The light filtered through the trees, the groom smoked cigars with his buddies and they danced the night away to the most amazing band, Slow Ya Roll!
